At Homelium Care, we believe knowledge is one of the most powerful tools families can have when facing Alzheimer’s disease. That’s why we are proud to mark Alzheimer’s Awareness Day on 21st September, a chance to share vital information, raise understanding and reassure families that they are not alone.

What is Alzheimer’s?

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia, affecting memory, thinking and behaviour. It is a progressive condition, meaning symptoms develop gradually over time. While it primarily affects older people, it is not a normal part of ageing.

Early Warning Signs

Recognising the early signs of Alzheimer’s can make a real difference. These may include:

  • Memory loss that disrupts daily life

  • Difficulty following conversations or instructions

  • Confusion about time or place

  • Trouble completing familiar tasks

  • Changes in mood, personality, or behaviour

If you notice these symptoms in yourself or a loved one, it’s important to seek medical advice.

Caring for someone with Alzheimer’s can feel daunting, but support is available. At Homelium Care, our compassionate carers are trained to provide tailored support, from daily visits to full-time live-in care. We focus on helping people stay safe, comfortable and independent at home, while also offering reassurance to families.

We work closely with families to create personalised care plans that adapt as needs change. Our carers are not only there to help with daily routines but also to provide companionship, understanding and stability.
