Caregiver Coffee Morning in Sherborne — A Free Monthly Event for Carers

If you care for a loved one, this one is for you 💙

Homelium Care Dorset is launching a brand new free monthly Caregiver Coffee Morning in Sherborne and we'd love for you to join us. Whether you're a family carer, an unpaid carer, or simply someone supporting a loved one at home and not quite sure where to turn, you are warmly welcome.

Our first session takes place on Tuesday 4th August at the wonderful Reeve the Baker, Sherborne, from 11am to 12:30pm and from there, we'll be meeting on the first Tuesday of every month.

Three smiling women at a café table hold Homelium home care brochures, with tea, scones, and a seaside painting behind them.

What Is a Caregiver Coffee Morning?

A Caregiver Coffee Morning is exactly what it sounds like, a relaxed, informal gathering over a warm drink, designed specifically for the people who spend their days looking after others.

No agenda. No pressure. No formal programme. Just a comfortable space to sit down, take a breath, and spend a little time on yourself for a change.

Caring for a loved one is one of the most meaningful things a person can do, but it's also one of the most demanding. Many carers go weeks, sometimes months, without a proper break or the chance to talk to someone who truly understands what they're going through.

Our Sherborne coffee mornings are here to change that.

Why We Started Caregiver Coffee Mornings

At Homelium, we've always believed that care extends beyond the person receiving it. The family members and unpaid carers who show up every single day, quietly doing everything, often go unnoticed and unsupported.

According to Carers UK, there are over 10 million unpaid carers in the UK. Many of them report feeling isolated, exhausted and unsure of where to find help. In Sherborne and the surrounding Dorset area, we want to be part of changing that, one coffee morning at a time.

Because sometimes, all it takes is an hour away from the caring role, a hot drink in your hand and the realisation that you are not alone in this.

Who Is the Coffee Morning For?

Our Sherborne Caregiver Coffee Morning is open to everyone, no referral needed, no appointment necessary.

You might want to come along if you are:

  • A family carer supporting an elderly parent, partner or relative at home

  • An unpaid carer who has taken on a caring role without formal support

  • Someone who is new to caring and feeling overwhelmed by where to start

  • A professional carer looking to connect with others in the industry

  • Someone who simply wants to get out of the house and meet people in Sherborne who understand what you're going through

  • A person thinking about home care for a loved one and wanting to ask questions in a relaxed, informal setting

If any of those sound like you, you belong here 💙

You Don't Have to Do This Alone

One of the things we hear most often from family carers is that the hardest part isn't the practical side of caring, it's the loneliness of it. The feeling that nobody around you quite understands the weight of what you're carrying.

Our coffee mornings in Sherborne are built to address exactly that. Over time, these sessions become more than just a monthly event, they become a community. A group of people who look out for each other, share tips and advice, and make each other feel a little less alone in one of life's most challenging roles.

Many of our regulars across other Homelium branches have formed genuine, lasting friendships through our coffee mornings. We'd love for that to happen in Sherborne too.

Speak to Our Care Team — No Pressure, No Obligation

Our Homelium Care Dorset team will be at every session and we want to be really clear about what that means, we're there to help, not to sell.

If you have questions about:

  • What home care actually involves day to day

  • Whether your loved one might benefit from support at home

  • Live-in care vs visiting care — what's the difference?

  • How to access funding for home care

  • Respite care options for family carers who need a break

  • Anything else care-related that's been on your mind

We're there to answer honestly and openly, with no pressure to commit to anything. Sometimes people come to our coffee mornings and end up finding out about support they didn't even know existed and that alone can be life-changing.

Our First Sherborne Caregiver Coffee Morning

We are so excited to be launching this in Sherborne, a beautiful town at the heart of Dorset that deserves exactly this kind of community support.

📅 Tuesday 4th August 2026 — and then every first Tuesday of the month

No need to book — just pop in and say hello

We can't wait to meet you 💙
