Caring Through the Cold: Supporting Our Community Together

This winter, Homelium Care was proud to partner with Age UK Northamptonshire to deliver two Caring Through the Cold community events, aimed at supporting older people and family carers during the colder months.

Winter can be an especially challenging time for many older people. Cold weather, rising heating costs and reduced social contact can all impact both physical and emotional wellbeing. These events were created to offer warmth, reassurance and connection, and to remind people that support is available within their local community.

Across the two events, we were delighted to welcome members of the community into a friendly, relaxed space. Together with Age UK Northamptonshire, we handed out 40 cosy winter blankets, shared dozens of hot cups of tea and spent time having meaningful conversations with older residents and their families. For many, it was the chance to feel listened to, supported and connected.

The events weren’t just about staying warm, they were about community. A friendly chat, a warm drink and practical advice can make a real difference, especially for those who may be feeling isolated or unsure where to turn for help. Our teams were on hand to offer guidance about staying well during winter and to talk through the support available to help people live safely and independently at home.

We are incredibly grateful to Age UK Northamptonshire for working alongside us to make these events possible. Partnerships like this allow us to reach more people, share trusted advice and create a stronger support network for older members of the community.
